Introducing our Prototype Sauna:
A compact, budget-conscious sauna exploring the threshold between ritual and architecture. Twinwall polycarbonate walls diffuse daylight into a soft interior glow, transforming the structure into a lantern at night. The pitched roof compresses at the entry, encouraging a subtle bow — a physical transition from exterior to introspection.

I'm Ricky, an architectural designer and sauna enthusiast.

For years I toyed with the idea of designing and building a sauna with my mates. I amassed countless sketches and back-of-napkin calculations before stumbling across a TradeMe auction for discount Douglas Fir and deciding to go all in.My background in prefabricated design and construction proved its worth over the 6 Saturdays it took the boys and I to fabricate and assemble our prototype polycarbonate sauna on a tight budget. We learned many lessons and really enjoyed the process of building something for ourselves. In fact, building the sauna with my mates might've been just as enjoyable as getting to enjoy the finished product. Hence, I want to enable other keen DIY enthusiasts to build their own custom sauna while avoiding all the same mistakes we made.FROSTWORKS is here to help with just that.
